XUYEN MOC DISTRICT

Xuyen Moc district has the provincal largest area about 642,18km 2, the east border on Ham Tan (Binh Thuan province), the west border on Chau Duc district and Long Dat district, the south border on east sea, the north border on Xuan Loc district (Dong Nai province). Population is about 122,500 people in 2000 with 13 administrative units including 12 communes and 1 town.

The length of seashore is about 31km, almost sand banks sloped gently from 3 0 to 8 0, inside Ho Tram beach with length of 3km, Ho Coc beach with length of 5km border on Binh Chau – Phuoc Buu virgin forest. Coming to ecotourism parks with clear water and sunshine all year tourists can bathe in the sea and sightsee very wonderful. In Xuyen Moc, the famous Binh Chau hot water stream nationwide with highest temparature about 82 0C, much of mineral located in the middle of virgin forest is suitable for developing tourist, relaxation, medicinal purposes.

It borders on the sea with many beautiful beaches, the area of agriculture and forestry appropriate by 80.7%, the area of good and medium soil by 61.5% of natural general area. Xuyen Moc district has advantage for developing agriculture and forestry, tourism and forest, sea and seafood catch.

The area of planting dieu, manioc, peanut of the district is the most in province. Second is the area of planting rubber, pepper, coffee, fruit trees, corn, various beans (after Chau Duc district).

Breeding is developing strongly with total of cattles by 9,000, total of pigs by 42,000.

Forestry area of the district is about 14.757ha by 42.6% of the provincal forestry general area, inside Binh Chau – Phuoc Buu nature reserve’s area by 11,293ha. This is virgin forest next the sea with very large area of the southern east as well as Vietnam ’s.

Seafood exploitation of the district is ranked the forth in the whole of province. The regional Phuoc Thuan nearby Loc An gateway is place of fishery service, landfall of ships very good in the district.
