From Ho Chi Minh city to Vung Tau following National highway 51, over Dong Nai province, you will see Tan Thanh District at once. The east border on Chau Duc district, the west border on Can Gio district (Ho Chi Minh city), the south border on Ba Ria town, the north border on Long Thanh district (Dong Nai province). Natural area is about 337.94km 2 with 8 administrative units including 7 communes and 1 town.
In Tan Thanh, there are many monuments, famous landscapes, pagodas which are advantage for developing tourist. Typically is Dinh mountain with grottos where are revolution bases in resistance wars; Stone stream, Fairy stream with attractive natural beauty; Dai Tong Lam pagoda take tourists to the forest with charming scenery, various architects of the Budhist and lotus pool in the fresh air.
Thi Vai river with length of 32km, depth from 10m to 20m, average width from 600m to 800m are suitable for building ports for big ships of 50,000 – 60,000 tons. The ports are in earliest activity such as Ba Ria – Serece port with length of 300m for landfall of ships of 60,000 tons, and Phu My electrical energy manufactory’s port with length of 175m for landfall of ships of 10,000 tons for supplying oil.
Besides Thi Vai water-deep port, national highway 51 and the gas path crossing, there are more the railway routes Bien Hoa – Phu My, Vung Tau in the future. The provincal industrial parks are almost concentrated in Tan Thanh. According to the project, there are 9 concentrated industrial parks in the whole of province, 5 of them in Tan Thanh including: My xuan A1 (300ha), My Xuan A2 (370ha), My Xuan B1 (222ha), Phu My I (954ha), Cai Mep (660ha).
The series of big manufactories have been carrying out building such as: electrical energy manufactories: Phu My 2-1, Phu My 1, Phu My 2, Phu My 3; VINA-KYOEI steel manufactory, NPK fertilizer manufactory, My Duc enamelled tile manufactory, Oil drum production manufactory, manufactories of grinding wheat, PVC production, tar production, manufacturing steel pipes, steel rod, processing food and animal food.
Tan Thanh has the provincal most building material mines including: stone mines in Ong Cau mountain, Dinh mountain; clay mines in My Xuan, Chau Pha; sandy soil mines in Stone stream, Fresh water stream.
Tan Thanh has conditions for developing saplings in agricultural production. The area for planting vegetables is about 1,000ha, fruit trees about 2,200ha (the provincal largest area), dieu about 1,000ha (the second large area after Xuyen Moc district), coffee trees about 2,050ha (the third large area after Chau Duc district and Xuyen Moc district). The breeding develops fast with the provincal most general yield of poultries.
